FURNISHING WITH A CLASSICAL STYLE

It is important to succeed in personalising one's environment; modular furniture solves any space problem and suits any need. Storage walls and interwalls create furnishing solutions with a feature in common: composition flexibility when it comes to  filling  space. Only some of the most prestigious classical furniture manufacturers have adapted to modernity passing from craftsmanship products  made-to-measure  to an extremely organised modular system that can provide functional solutions with an excellent style in the full respect of antique style. Something different than usual furnishing with single pieces, without forgetting style and taste. Using a square unit, for example, perhaps made from original old panels, whole furnishing systems can be created with bookcases, sideboards, storage walls finished with wall panelling, floors and false ceilings, all made from solid wood.

FOR LONG-LASTING FURNITURE: QUALITY
Good furniture always needs attention and work; it is a good idea to be suspicious about cheap furniture because they will not be able to guarantee the best quality.
Furniture must always be made from dried and seasoned solid wood. Supporting structures can be made from 4.2 cm toulipie or deal planks glued together with a finger joint and finished on the front with solid walnut. Backs can be polished or lacquered according to the structure and upholstered inside.
Doors must be of various shapes, have a traditional frame system with fixed joints, wooden pins that guarantee strength and a long life. Accessories must be designed in a wide range of sizes and combinations to allow endless compositions. To keep wooden surfaces soft to touch and free from moisture, they must have been finished with a film of beeswax. Any varnish finish must be open cell nitro-cellulose to let the wood breathe.

HOW TO FURNISH: PRACTICAL ADVICE
Modular systems can normally furnish living rooms and bedrooms; if you wish to give an extra touch of elegance, solutions can be completed with additional frames or "finished sides". A fireplace can be fitted, a radiator be covered, a window finished, space for a TV created, book shelves or display units added, a room enriched with wall panelling. Even doors, the floor and lacunar ceiling can be matched. A room can become more elegant, a lounge cosier, a bedroom warmer.

Radiators
The radiators we often see in houses are not very stylish and are sometimes old and cumbersome. The market offers radiator covers that usually do not satisfy an elegant taste. Why not adopt alternative solutions such as creating storage walls that contain the radiator in a bookcase (with a grating for the circulation of air) or a panelled wall that completes the radiator area with a framed grating and shelf.
Television
A TV needs a deeper stand than display units, shelves or bookcases. With the right units it is no problem to fit elements with advanced bodies, units that can normally be multiples of 45 or 60 cm. For those who love a clean and classic style, even a TV can disturb, it being so technological. All you need to do in this case is close it in a suitable cabinet that can also be fitted to contain a video recorder, a Hi-fi system or even a computer.
Bookcases, display units, cupboards
Whether we need to furnish a living room, a study or a bedroom, the same units can be used to create bookcases with simples shelves or display units with full-glass door and English door or large and deeper cupboards with lots of useful inner fittings such as tie-racks or skirt holders. The units can be in multiples of 40/45 cm for bookcases and display units and 60 cm for cupboards.
Fireplace
Around the fire it is important to create a warm and cosy area. The best solutions is to fit the fire into the wall panelling. Above it, several solutions are possible: in case of low wall panelling the wall above it is free to be decorated as you please; in case of high wall panelling a unit can be cut so that panels with other finishes can be fitted into it and be used as a support onto which paintings, plates or other decorations can be mounted.

FINISHES

Walls
To make a room warm and cosy respecting its classical style, there is nothing better that wall lining that can be total (floor/ceiling) or partial (up to 1 meter high). The walls can be lined with alternating display units or bookcases and panelled parts. Again, modular elements are important and sizes need to be studied carefully in order to finish every corner not only with modular units but also with customised ones, if necessary. A wall that is 3.55 cm long, for example, can be finished with three 90 cm units plus a special 75 cm one.
Doors and windows
Doors and windows do not need to be a problem as they can be matched with the rest of the room. Thanks to the modularity of the units, windows can be finished with a shelf or with closing doors underneath. Doors have to be all matching and in the same wood as the walls.
Floors and ceilings
Even the floor can match the rest of the room or can be made in a wood differing from the wall, as long as the colours are matched properly. A refined lacunar ceiling makes every room very elegant and can be enriched and lighted with flush spotlights.
