These boards are made from fine wood coming from prestigious 18th and 19th century mansions of the ex Austro-Hungarian kingdom. During restoration they revealed the presence of these ligneous elements, patiently hand-made with inlay techniques and with that surface patina that only time and history can give.
They come from regions that in the past gravitated around Vienna, therefore under the influence of the Austro-Hungarian culture: Trieste and its province for Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Hungary for Eastern Europe. In the buildings in which the amount of missing parts made architectural restoration not worthwhile, the tarsia panels were removed to be used after careful selection and patient restoration, in our furniture and furnishings. Although Austria is the country with most of these floorings, it does not allow export or removal as they are protected by the Ministry of Art and Culture.
