RENZO GUDERZO
Expert in antique style

Dovetail joints for the drawers. Hand carving and inlaying. Clay paste and bees wax for polishing the wood. These techniques have been used by cabinetmakers for centuries in their workshops. The same that Renzo Guderzo, 46, owner together with Egidio Battocchio of Faber Furniture, prefers for his collections of classic style chests of drawers, beds and tables. His is a modern firm with 30 employees and its own Web site. However, the furniture is still hand finished. "In 1982, when we began, we just made wainscoting and made to measure bookcases" Guderzo tells us. Success arrived four years ago with two sideboards that were inspired by 16th century Tuscany style. "The structure was walnut, the doors were antique inlaid panels, which were once part of the floors of some Venetian mansions", he remembers, "They were the first two pieces of the Medicea collection, our best-sellers". Since then, Faber has increased its range of products, from precious Imperial style sofas to simple cupboards, which are ideal for country homes.
